Rome shaken after 5.5 Magnitude earthquake hits central Italy
Rome's historic centre has been shaken by a strong earthquake which struck central Italy.
The 5.4 magnitude quake hit near Visso, about 100 miles northeast of the capital, according to the US Geological Survey.
Tremors were felt from Perugia in Umbria to Rome and the town of Aquila.
There are no immediate reports of damage after the quake hit at a relatively shallow depth of six miles.
It comes just two months after a devastating earthquake killed nearly 300 people and destroyed hilltop villages.
