The attack took place at the infamous An'Nur mosque – a known hotbed of jihad activity – in the northern Swiss city of Winterthur on November 22, 2016.
The two victims – who had gone to the mosque to pray – were brutally beaten and sequestrated by their alleged attackers who also threatened to “kill their families” if they spoke to police about the attack, the Zurich chief prosecutor’s office said.
The suspects were allegedly convinced that the two men had told local journalists that the mosque’s imam, from Ethiopia, had called for the murder of Muslims who refused to join communal prayers in the mosque during a sermon.
