Fidan Ekiz, who is of Turkish descent herself, hit out at the supporters of Recep Tayyip Erdogan after inflamed tensions with the Netherlands after he blamed the Dutch for massacring 8,000 Muslim men during the 1995 Srebrenica massacre in Bosnia.
It comes after the Netherlands barred two Turkish ministers from addressing expatriates in the country ahead of a referendum in Turkey to expand the Ankara leader’s powers.
Speaking to Channel 4 News, the documentary maker, who receives death threats for her open criticism of President Erdogan, issued the “harsh” warning.
She said: “You’re living in a free country with freedom of speech, if you don’t like it here you should go back to Turkey.
