The European Commission president, speaking in an interview ahead of the European Union’s 60th anniversary next week, said he was optimistic about the outcome of the race.
He said: “The European Union will survive Marine Le Pen because she won’t become President.
“And even if she did, it would not be the end of the European project.
“But it would certainly rock the boat. So I hope that pro-European forces will win in France.”
Juncker cited Geert Wilders’ defeat in this week’s Dutch elections as a “good signal” for the French race, as well at the German election in September.
